« Tuning LinkedIn privacy settings

I do like LinkedIn, I do read the feed from time to time, with some tuning I can even find LinkedIn useful, sure I never found a job with it but it’s still a decent platform to build work relationships.
How, since I became an Employer the spam increased, when I was “just an employee” the spam was mainly from Recruiters or people wanting to hire me, which is flattering right, makes you feel good, makes you think that, hey I am good at this, I am getting so many “exciting” opportunities, typically involving XML, Oracle and JSPs.
But then while being a Partner at Equal Experts and now as CTO at Labrador, the spam increased, so I finally took some time and tuned my privacy settings.
With some pretty easy work, nobody is contacting me anymore selling me offshore work, cheap developers, recruitment services, coaching, any sort of unwanted help.
It’s almost weird and sad now, to open LinkedIn and find no notifications: what, nobody wants me anymore? Nobody likes me anymore? The psychology behind these social networks is fascinating.
You just need to set almost everything to ‘NO’, ‘Nobody’, ‘Just me’, make sure 2FA is on, it’s the last but not least important setting on that page!
Indeed, this might end up closed down like my Facebook account, after all, your network is built with real people, real relationship, a private, perhaps even written down, address book: if something doesn’t provide any value, it should just go away.
